The below is a list of what happens in my brain for the next 31 minutes after I hit “publish” each and everyday.  Note:  I only have about 1 original thought per minute, the other thoughts within that minute are variations of the original-thesis thought for that correpsonding minute.

Min 1:  “Did my post suck today?  It’s been a minute and there is only one “like”.

Speed of Mind Faster Then a Light?

January 31, 2012 3 comments

Modern life confirms the fact:”Time is money!” Not so long ago, I’ve got a certificate of succesfully finished Speed Reading Course! \o/ I attended it out of curiosity…I just wanted to learn some tips on how to read, learn and memorize faster. Guess what, that stuff actually works for me and the curiosity didn’t killed the cat this time.

I’ve read 2 books yesterday written by the genious Tony Buzan - “The Mind Map Book” and “Use Your Head”

I must say that Tony Buzan is a really wise man who helped me a lot to take my brain on the next level. I won’t do the review of his learning philosophy, what are mind maps and how they work, what is speed reading technique, blah, blah, blah, blah…

Who is curious about it, it can be found at my second brain —-> GOOGLE dot com!

Getting back to the point of my blog… So, since I am so stressed lately with studying economics I read a few interesting articles about the speed of our mind and reality time!

First of all it’s not true that the speed of mind is faster then the speed of light. The truth is actually that we use just 10 % of our brain and that “All of the digital data in the world is equivalent to one human brain.” Isn’t that fascinating? Yes, yes I know what you are thinking…*Bullsh…* *Beep*… So, why are we people so lazy to turn on our brains and to start developing those grey cells into our own advantage?!

Have you ever wondered how a baseball batter hits the ball at that high speed? How can he see it at 100 km/h or more? Or for example Usain Bolt… How does athletes push so hard at the end to win the race when they are loosing strength? They use their head and focus instead- when their body fails.

Those champs really arent’ the freaks of natures! The answer is in the little thing everyone has…Magic of (focus)ing! Focus is a thing that makes time and reality to stop for a while. We are all born with it in order to survive! It’s just that some champions – e.g. athlethes, F1 drivers can get into that phase in a blink of the eye because practise makes perfection work. Brain vs. body!

How about the time you experienced adrenaline rush by almost dying, your whole life rewinded in front of your eyes and you still had time, that tiny second to avoid that terrible accident! Right? What about a moment when you were walking down the street and saw someone beautiful…Didn’t the world just stopped for a moment and you felt like you looked at them for ages?

Anyways you can slow down your own reality, you don’t need to be Usain Bolt or famous baseball player, F1 star, pilot…It’s the skill you were born with, so you just need to get it out of the dusty brain cabinet and start developing it all the time…

Perceptive awareness is a magical thing and it is something that makes our minds timeless. Stopping the time for a moment and expanding seconds into a feeling of hours. Just stop living in the past and future, concentrate on present! Get rid of those bad thoughts that distract you and live for the moment you experience now, it is the only way to study efficiently. Concentration and focusing is a God’s gift. If you are interested google some terms as speed reading, focus exercises, mind maps I am sure you will get some great tips on how to study efficiently!

Here are some useful tips I do while studying nowadays:

1. Stop using your fancy gadgets you own…Turn them off! It will just distract you, one beep and you are off the focus…It will take you ages to get back in that phase again when you actually learnt something usefull

2. Stop vocalizing everything you read and hearing words! Stop repeating & retaining on everything you read. Just start reading with your eyes only!

3. Google some exercise techniques how to get into focus!

4. Turn words/numbers into stories and imagination… Make up your own stories with math, physics, economics! Yes, that’s possible too no matter how stupid may seem, just use your imagination! I learn accounting this way.

5. Just do it…NOW as I am about too! Start living in the present and stop stressing about future and how little time you got left or getting worried about past problems that bug you! What happened, happened you can’t change it.

6. Be the director of your own slow motion life movie. You don’t need a fancy camera to slow mote your time all you need is your brain

7. Remember the faster your mind is focused on what your are doing  the more you’ll learn

8. Exercise before you go to study and pimp your brain with 02

9. Time doesn’t matter! Rather study 1 h efficently then 10 hours without knowing nothing later!

We all remember the US Basketball team from the Olympics in 1992. The players that won the gold in Barcelona were some of the best to ever touch a basketball. It has been called the greatest team assembled in the history of sports, and they where deservedly named the Dream Team. How would an all time European team look, and how would they fare against the 1992 Champions?

Wisdom in a Literate Way

January 31, 2012 3 comments

Here are some words of wisdom and slang sayings I hear in everyday life…

I decided to do the literate translation of these proverbs/saying/wise quotes… Some sound really bizarre that sometimes I wonder where they came from!

But mostly are meant to be in rhyme, after all that is the way sayings are meant to be memorised!

“You can’t own sheep and money!” —>You can’t have everything! Don’t be greedy…

“Don’t search for the hair in the egg!” —> Don’t be whining perfectionist!

“Shaky as old lady’s(granny’s) tooth” —> Situation that is meant to be a failure with probability of 90%

“Thunder doesn’t strike a nettle!” —> Really? It’s said when you go trough a bad situation and you win in the end! Thunder doesn’t strikes lucky bastards! But don’t go to the nettle field when thunderstorm gets you…It’s not wise!

“God spares only children and drunk junkies!” —> Wonder why drunk people survive bizarre moments sometime?

“He who acts first, he gets the girl!” —> Don’t complain if someone takes/conquers things before you, just because you were lazy!

“From crib to the grave, the best time in life is a school time” —>  Studying seems hard, but its only thing to worry about as a kid as you grow up there are more important things!

“There is no bread without a hoe/shavel!” —> Work hard to make your dreams come true!

“Don’t rush like the goose into the fog” - Stjepan Radić —> Patience is the key! Don’t make important decisions quick without thinking first!

“Don’t look into the teeth of the horse that was given to you!”—> Never whine about gifts(easy wins)  you got/achieved!

” He who doesn’t have it in his head, he has it in his feet!” —> If you forget things you can always use your feet instead! Don’t be lazy to use them…

“No pain, no “brain” (science)!” —> Without any effort, success doesn’t come to you for free!

” Where is a smoke, there is a fire!”—> there is always cause and effect later!

“Who plum(s) you?“  —> ” Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn”- Clark Gable! To plum someone – verb which indicates the action of throwing plums at someone! I don’t get the connection between the plums and this saying!

“Bake it (first) then say it (out loud)!” —> Think before you speak!

“Apple doesn’t fall far away from the tree!” —>”Like father, like son!”

“Mountains were shaking, the mouse was born!” —> Mostly people who praise themselves much, talk bullshit!

“In every joke there is a half truth!” —> If someone is being sarcastic about you, he probably means it!

Time is money!” —> Time is priceless! Life is too short. Some moments/situations doesn’t happen twice!

“Healthy body, healthy spirit!” —> Take care of your body(exercise, think what you eat) and you will have a clear mind/healthy head!

“In lie there are short legs!” —> It said when kids lie to scary them…Are biggest liars, really a dwarfs?

There are more proverbs/sayings but I can’t write them all! It’s studying time! Au revoir!

Things Our Kids Will Never Know About

January 29, 2012 4 comments

As I was passing by my old playing park today, something that crossed my mind was…Where did all the kids go? Even thought they built fancy amusement “gadgets” the park is always empty!

I have nothing against technology, yes it’s making my life easier a lot! All the stuff I need to know I actually have in the palm of my hand 24/7! I might not be a parent yet to talk about some stuff now, but still here are some things that crossed my mind!

1. CD- compact discs! Remember the times when you were so excited and went to the nearest music store to buy your favorite artist’s album! I do…Last time I did that was probably in 2001 when I went and bought Robbie Williams’s Escapology album…

Today I really feel sorry for the artists because music in the physical shape is dying! You don’t need to buy those albums, you just make a few clicks and download the music you want! I wonder if my future kid will ever know what that round shiny circles were.

2. Pen – since I study hard last few days and preparing myself to graduate from colleague…I started to write with my own hand and I actually can’t remember when was the last time I used sharpener or a mechanical pencil and a brush longer then 10 minutes! Yes, I could write notes in Word, but old school is old school!

I really wonder if my kids will use pens in schools, since those tablets, laptops and other fancy gadgets went to the market, everything is meant to be touched and to hurt our vision! I wonder why geek look and glasses are now chic and trendy! Will people ever use their mailboxes at their porches and write those old fashion letters and postcards? I love postcards!

3. Photographs- really does anyone today makes old-fashioned albums and photos? Photos that you can actually touch and develop by yourself? I am not talking about touching your screen…

Today you click, share and there you go, everyone can see what you are doing, with who and where you were! There is no privacy anymore or those little “ashamed” childhood secrets only old albums treasure…I am not going to mention the fact that everyone can download your photos and have them for themself as well.

4. The fun of playing with imagination – well lately I don’t see much kids who hang out in parks, play in the sand, eat mud, play with the sticks, marbles or invent their own kingdom, pacts & games! Wasn’t that world so cool back then and developed our brains and social skills?

Today kids play video games and they can spend hours of gazing to the monitors/TVs without moving! Wow that is really some modern virtue and a skill! Parents might be blessed with extra free time because they are so busy lately and selfish that they can’t even take their kids to the theaters to see some fun plays or take them to some weekend trips…I personally loved theaters as a kid, I always wanted to be an actress and pretending to be one! xD I also loved those field trips- visiting old castles, zoo…!

5.  The Smurfs- OMG the Smurfs! This summer I asked my little neighbour what is his favorite smurf, he asked me what is a smurf…I rest my case! Maybe its just me but Smurfs rock, not the cartoons kids see today!

Remember those childhood crushes and memories? I bet my kids will never experience positive things like sending valentine cards, putting _ _ _ _ marks beneath the question:”who is your sympathy”  in those notebooks that went from a friend to friend…I always hoped HE would figure it out xD I guess my kid will just share some application on FaceBook and send notifications :D Oh…yes I wonder if I cut internet, how rebellious and crazy would my future kids be? Would they strike me with the knives? And burry me in the back yard?

I could write more stuff but I am to lazy to type! Au revoir!

January 28, 2012 8 comments

I’ve been to a vast number of cities in Europe by the age of 25, which average Croat would not see in his whole life… I’ve seen the places that had to be believed to be seen! But “there is no place like home”, right?

Today I was arranging my mobile gallery and it crossed my mind that I could share my top 3 hidden places I’ve seen in 2011!

Who says you need a professional camera to make lovely photos? HTC- “quietly brilliant”! \o/

1. The city of Karlobag- a small city in the north part of the Adriatic cost

This is the view from my president apartment’s balcony on the 1st floor of my house! I just love this place since I was a crying snot in diapers! It’s amazing to drink coffee and just look at the desert side of the Island of Pag or to watch the amazing sunsets, moonsets, gazing at the stars….I never get bored, I don’t need fancy wireless gadgets, TV to entertain on a vacation. Nature changes it’s moments all the time and every look is never the same. Why to miss those unrepeatable moments!

2. The city of Zagreb- my home town!

The Jarun lake just a mile away from  my house. I love this place, I simply love to drive my bike there or on the river Sava’s berm near by! Great places to do some sport on the fresh air!

Oh…Do you belive in signs? I took this photo just when Pope left Zagreb! Isn’t it just amazing coincident?!

My PIMPs & the gang xD! I love to wander the streets of Zagreb during weekends in a search for a party…

3. The city of Varazdin- they say it’s the most beautiful barock city in Europe!

Old castle & the museum in the center of Varazdin!

Isn’t it inspiring? I sure can imagine the battles they had around here…

January 27, 2012 8 comments

Absurd Modern Myths or facts?

So, here are some modern myths you probably didn’t know about Croats!

1. 90-ties myth: white socks and owning a cell phone in elementary school makes you a son of Herzegovinian tycoon who drives Mercedes! Herzegovina is a part of Bosnian federation and 90% of people living there are Croatian citizens! Kids in Croatia actually think that Herzegovinians are rich tycoons, who always talk on their phones and ware visible white socks!

Fact: Well mostly Herzegovinians do drive Mercedes-Benz, they do have cellphones, they do ware white socks and the most of Croatian famous tycoons own a double Cro/Bosnian passport!

Most of the kids in Croatia also ware white socks, and own an Iphone by age of 9!

2. Did you know that symbol and most respected animal of Dalmatians is a donkey?

Myth: All Dalmatians are lazy and stubborn as the donkeys?

Fact: When you visit Croatian coast during the summer you probably won’t find an opened store from 3-5 pm and its legal

3. Myth: if you eat raw potato you will get high fever and you’ll get legal note for skipping exams from your doctor!

Fact: It’s not true, eating them won’t get you a fever! Click for the proof

4. Myth: Teachers and moms say to teenaged girls that you will lose your ovaries as adult if you sit on cold highschool surfaces during the brakes!

Fact: There have been numerous recent studies linking a diminished capacity of ovum being expelled from the ovaries when the reproductive system is brought into dermal contact with colder surfaces.

5. Myth: If you sit at the corner of the table you will never get married!

Fact: I will let you know in 15 years when I will be 40.

6. Myth: If you are “smexy” natural blonde Croatian girl (like me) there is 99.99 % probability that you are actually dumb and retarded! There are many jokes about blondies in Croatia!

Fact: Actually the biggest business women in Croatia are natural blondies! And I will also get a CPA diploma in a year, so I rest my case!

7. Myth: If you eat candies secretly before lunch or dinner you’ll get strike 3 immediately and be grounded for the rest of your childhood even if your mom isn’t near you!

Fact: Well Croat moms are the bosses of the family and they are always right behind you!

8. Myth: If you are (were) 14 like me,  have nice boobs, big brother who is 18, and ware make-up! You can go to a fancy club in Croatia every weekend and drink there without being asked for an ID!

Fact: Yes, that’s actually true, been there done that! You can see many kids in the clubs who actually look like 19 year old girls! So guys be carefull, mostly girls aren’t legal, don’t get deceived by the looks, they don’t say for no reason that make-up makes miracles.

9. Myth: Minors can buy cigarettes!

Fact: Yes they can, no one asks you for your ID…The funiest ironic thing is that nowdays when I am 25 people ask me more for an ID and no one ever asked me that when I was a minor!

10. Myth: Don’t use the ice in the Coke! You will get  very, very sick and eventually die!

Fact: Not true!
